My Journey

Before high school, I studied it under my Sifu (teacher) in China. After moving to the US, I continued practicing and began teaching Wing Chun to my English teacher and dorm parent, Mr. McEnroe, who had previously studied Tai Chi, another form of Chinese martial art. In my sophomore year, I had the opportunity to present Wing Chun during International Week. I established the Wing Chun Martial Arts Club to introduce the art to others interested in martial arts and Chinese culture.

Through learning Wing Chun, I have come to appreciate the importance of perseverance, as well as traditional Chinese values such as honesty and integrity.

My Practice

During the summer, when I can take lessons from my Sifu, I practice through sparring with other students or with my Sifu. These sessions enhance my ability to react to different situations and help me memorize the basic moves. When I practice alone, I focus on strength training, which benefits my interactions with other practitioners.
